We now return you to our regularly scheduled music. I just got a leaked copy of Grizzly Bear’s new album, Veckatimest, and it’s pretty great. It’s not “Knife” great, because it doesn’t hit those highs. But it certainly transcends their 2006 LP, Yellow House. Overall, the album is certainly a step forward. Veckatimest isn’t just better produced, it really feels like Daniel Rossen took the reigns and helped hone the queer, low-fi sound just bashing along on his piano. The result? “Two Weeks.” It’s not “On a Neck, On a Spit.” It just, you know… swallows.
